Overview
SpeedKara (“the Site”) is a community-run Karazhan speedrun leaderboard. We are committed to keeping your data minimal and transparent. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
Data from WarcraftLogs
We automatically fetch publicly available combat log data from WarcraftLogs, including guild names, player names, boss kill times, and log metadata. This data is publicly available on WarcraftLogs and is used solely for leaderboard ranking purposes.
User-Submitted Data
- Video submissions — YouTube or Twitch URLs submitted for run verification
- Run reports — text descriptions submitted when reporting potentially invalid runs
- Webhook URLs — Discord webhook URLs submitted for top-10 notifications
Local Storage
We use your browser’s local storage and session storage for:
- Remembering your preferences (filters, toggles)
- Caching leaderboard data for faster loading
- Cookie consent acknowledgment
No tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies are used.
How We Use Information
- Display and rank speedrun data on the leaderboard
- Show community-submitted videos alongside runs
- Process run validity reports for admin review
- Send Discord webhook notifications for top-10 runs
Third-Party Services
- Supabase — database hosting and authentication
- WarcraftLogs — source of combat log data
- Google AdSense — may serve ads to help cover hosting costs; Google may use cookies for ad personalization (see Google’s Privacy Policy)
- YouTube / Twitch — embedded video players for submitted VODs
- Discord — webhook delivery for notifications
Data Retention
Leaderboard data is retained indefinitely as part of the public ranking history. Video submissions and run reports are retained for as long as the associated log exists on the leaderboard. Webhook URLs can be removed by contacting us.
Your Rights
You may request removal of your data by contacting us. If your guild or player data appears on the leaderboard via a publicly logged WarcraftLogs report and you wish it removed, please reach out.
Children’s Privacy
This Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
SpeedKara itself does not use first-party cookies for tracking or analytics. The only data stored in your browser is via localStorage and sessionStorage for functional purposes such as remembering your filter preferences, caching leaderboard data for faster page loads, and storing cookie consent state. These are not shared with any third party.
However, third-party services embedded on the Site may set their own cookies:
- Google AdSense — Google may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve personalised ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalised ads via Google Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info/choices.
- YouTube embeds — When a community-submitted video is displayed, the embedded YouTube player may set cookies. SpeedKara uses the privacy-enhanced embed mode (youtube-nocookie.com) where available to reduce cookie usage.
- Supabase — The Supabase JavaScript client stores an authentication token in localStorage when an admin logs in. No cookies are set for regular visitors.
Google AdSense & Advertising
SpeedKara uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. These ads help cover the costs of database hosting, API usage, and server infrastructure. Google AdSense may use the following data to serve and personalise ads:
- Cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites
- Your approximate geographic location (derived from IP address) to show regionally relevant ads
- Browsing behaviour and interests inferred from cookie data across Google’s advertising network
You can review Google’s advertising privacy practices in their Advertising Privacy Policy. Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) will be shown a consent dialog before personalised ads are served, in compliance with GDPR requirements.
GDPR & European Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These include:
- Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — you may request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — you may request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Right to restrict processing — you may request that we limit how we use your data
- Right to data portability — you may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to object — you may object to processing of your data for legitimate interest purposes

The legal basis for processing WarcraftLogs data is legitimate interest (operating a public speedrun leaderboard), and for Google AdSense is consent (managed via the ad consent dialog).
International Data Transfers
SpeedKara’s database is hosted by Supabase, which may store data in data centres outside your country of residence. The website is served globally via Netlify’s CDN. WarcraftLogs data is fetched from servers operated by WarcraftLogs. By using the Site, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws than your own.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
